Yamagata-ken Hotels Japan

Yamagata – Ken, or Yamagata Prefecture is a Japanese administrative district on Honshu Island with a capital city of Yamagata. It faces the Sea of Japan and shares mountainous borders with its neighbouring provinces. The majority of the population of Yamagata live in cities on the central plain. The region is famous for its fruit production, in particular pears and cherries. Whilst the region appears to be a little off the main tourist routes, it offers great rewards to those visitors who do seek it out.

There is unspoilt scenery and world class skiing in the mountains during the winter months. Ancient temples and fantastic local food all add to the overall experience and give a glimpse into what real Japan is all about. The city of Obanazawa boasts one of the highest annual snowfalls in the world (over two metres in an average winter) and is also home to popular hot springs.

There is plenty of good quality accommodation in the Yamagata Prefecture with hotels to suit all budgets. The Richimond Hotel Yamagata-Ekimae is a good choice for visitors to Yamagata city as it has very large and comfortable rooms and great breakfasts. The Comfort Hotel Yamagata offers a more budget option with clean and comfortable rooms.
